Your hosting in the Manager: balance, hourly billing and cPanel access

· View as Markdown

This guide is for customers with cPanel hosting or Multidomain Hosting (reseller with WHM access). If you have just arrived in the Manager, start with Welcome to the Manager. If you have never signed in yet, first request your password at manager.ginernet.com/forgot-password: your account already exists, but without a password.

Your hosting is still on the same server, with the same IP, the same DNS, the same email and the same files. You do not need to migrate anything or change any settings.

Where your hosting is

  • cPanel hosting: menu Web Hosting » Hosting cPanel.
  • Multidomain Hosting: menu Web Hosting » Hosting WHM.

When you open a cPanel hosting account you see its page, with these tabs:

  • Overview: disk, CPU and bandwidth usage against your plan limits, access details and the nameservers your domains should use.
  • Email: your email accounts (passwords, storage, connecting devices) and access to Webmail.
  • Domains: the main domain, addon domains, aliases and subdomains of the account.
  • Billing: the rate and the balance consumption of this hosting, day by day.
  • Activity: the history of operations.

A Multidomain Hosting page shows the contracted space and number of cPanel accounts, how many you have created and the disk they use, with the Overview, Billing and Activity tabs.

Signing in to cPanel or WHM

On the hosting page, click Open cPanel (or Open WHM for Multidomain Hosting) and you are signed in directly, without typing the password.

If your hosting came from the client area, its password is the one you always had. If you do not remember it and need it (for FTP, for example), sign in with Open cPanel and change it from cPanel itself.

Inside cPanel and WHM everything works as before. If you need a refresher, see Getting started with cPanel and Getting started with WHM.

How it is charged

Your hosting is paid per hour from your account balance: every hour, on the hour, the proportional part of its rate is deducted. On the hosting's Billing tab you can see the rate and the balance consumption day by day.

  • The monthly price is a reference: since the charge is hourly, it varies slightly with the number of days in each month.
  • All your services draw from the same balance. Domains too: their renewal is charged in one go 30 days before expiry, so keep it in mind when you top up.
  • We email you when your balance has 10, 7, 5, 3, 2 and 1 days left, and a few hours before it runs out.

Turn on auto top-up in Billing, Balance tab, and your balance will be topped up automatically with your card before it runs out.

If your balance runs out

  1. Suspension. If an hourly charge comes due and there is no balance to cover it, the hosting is suspended: the website stops loading and email, FTP and cPanel cannot be accessed. Nothing is deleted: your files, databases and emails are still there.
  2. Reactivation. When you top up, the debt for the hours it was suspended is paid first. If the remaining balance covers at least 24 hours of your suspended services, the hosting is reactivated automatically within a few minutes.
  3. Temporary reactivation. If you need the website running before you can top up, in Billing you will see a notice with the Reactivate temporarily (5 days) button. You can use it once every 30 days, and the debt keeps accruing.
  4. Deletion. If the hosting stays suspended for 15 days (20 if you used the temporary reactivation), the account is deleted from the server with all its content.

Deletion for lack of balance is permanent: the website, databases and email are erased and cannot be recovered. If you are going to take a while to top up, use the temporary reactivation or write to us from Support before the deadline.

Multidomain Hosting: changing resources

On your Multidomain Hosting page, the Change resources button lets you increase or reduce the total space and the number of cPanel accounts. Before applying the change you see the new price, which is charged from the next hour. To reduce, you first need to free up space or delete accounts from WHM.

Cancelling a hosting account

On the hosting page, open the three-dot menu (More actions) and choose Delete account. The account is deleted from the server with all its content and stops being charged; make a copy of anything you want to keep first. For Multidomain Hosting, all the cPanel accounts created in it are deleted too.

If your hosting came from the client area

  • The time you had paid for and not yet used has been credited as balance, and that balance pays for the hosting hour by hour.
  • The current Manager rate applies, which you can see on the hosting's Billing tab. If you paid yearly with a discount there, the credited balance may last less than the time you had left: check your balance and top up in good time.
  • Pending invoices for this hosting in the client area have been cancelled: you do not need to pay them.
